Coastal Rustic Home Decor

If you are familiar with trends in home design, you have probably seen coastal rustic design popping up everywhere. These two design elements work perfectly together. The Coastal rustic look is all about comfort, being cozy with pieces that have a weathered, rustic look. There are certain elements to this design that makes the coastal rustic decor unique.

Rustic Coastal Living Room Decor

The first thing anyone notices when walking into a room designed with a coastal rustic decor is the comfort the space offers. This style is all about creating a comfortable and airy space that makes you want to curl up on the sofa or relax in a spacious chair. One of the reasons for this is the use of various textures that help to create the look. The coastal rustic home decor incorporates weathered and vintage pieces with softer fabrics and lighter colored pieces. A major component throughout the style is the use of wood. This can be found in the wooden floors and in the various furniture pieces selected. The pieces you select can vary in their design features, from stained to weathered or painted. You may even see some rooms that take wood to a whole other level by using it as paneling on the walls, whether it’s kept natural with reclaimed wood slats, or painted to give it a cottage look.

Although you may be drawn to some industrial pieces for their interesting use of metal, most designers would agree that you should incorporate them sparingly. When done so, more industrial pieces tend to give the room a vintage, rustic look. What you will find in the end is a room that is filled with it’s own unique charm. When thinking about how to complete the overall look, think about what kinds of accessories would work in the space. This is your chance to truly personalize the space. You may want to add trunks or other weathered coastal-inspired pieces to your space, such as vintage looking art, or even the placement of driftwood. You can really get creative for what vintage accessories work in your space.

Blending the Designs of Coastal and Rustic

Have you ever seen Zin Home furniture featured on the HGTV show, Fixer Upper? We love to see what Joanna & Chip Gaines, hosts of the show, might showcase from our collections to complete their beautiful makeovers. In Season 5, Episode 4 New Chapter for Family of Four, they re-styled look that's a blend of styles, incorporating both a coastal beachy and rustic vibe and included our Grady Reclaimed Peroba Wood Slab Coffee Table and Dorset Industrial Loft Linen Sofa with Wood Arms.
